Two members of staff from the York office of one of Yorkshire's leading law firm's Ware & Kay Solicitors Ltd have been looking a little hairer this month, as they take part in Movember.  Spectacular moustches have been grown and so far they have raised over £200 for charity. Movember is an annual charity with a simple idea: to grow a moustache in November and raise money and awareness of men's health, specificially prostate and testicular cancers. David Hyams, Director and Charles Stent, Solicitor (both in the Commercial Team) decided to put themselves forward for the challenge. In addition, after growing moustaches during the whole of the month they also took part in a MoRun with other MoRunners in Leeds. This Movember, Ware & Kay Solicitors Ltd will be raising vital funds and awareness for men's health.  David Hyams, Director and Charles Stent, Solicitor (both in the Commercial Team) at the York office have decided to put themselves forward for the challenge. The Movember Foundation is the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men's health.  They achieve this by challenging men to grow moustaches during Movember (the month formerly known as November) to spark conversation and raise funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems. The team at Ware & Kay think this is a very worthy cause because too many men are dying unnecessarily from prostate cancer.  Each year, 40,000 men in the UK alone are diagnosed with prostate cancer. Ware & Kay Solicitors celebrated the greatest Grand Départ in history in true style by hosting its own Breakfast Barbeque with musical accompaniment. Amongst the million fans who flocked to York over 300 hundred people were delighted to attend a private party to cheer on the champions of the sport. The festivities, on 6th July, kicked off on Sunday, with an event very close to the route, staged at their York offices at Sentinel House, Peasholme Green, which included an early breakfast barbeque and an impressive band for the guests. Frankly Jazz, local musicians from Harrogate, added a touch of class to the private party, and entertained the guests with a sophisticated performance making it a memorable occasion for everyone. Mike Hughes, commercial agent with licensed property specialists Sidney Phillips from York has raised an incredible £21,000 (with donations still coming in) as part of the Power Peloton ahead of the great Tour de France which took place on Saturday 5th July.  Ware & Kay Solicitors, based in York, Wetherby & Malton was extremely proud and delighted to sponsor Mike and contributed £1,000 to the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity which is the official charity of the Tour de France Grand Départ. The new president of the Yorkshire Law Society took up office this week. Michael Peach, a partner with Ware & Kay Solicitors, with offices in Wetherby & York, is to hold the post in the society's 228th year. The Yorkshire Law Society is the second oldest local law society in the country and membership is currently open to practicing solicitors, legal executives, paralegals and university law lecturers together with some County Court Judges. The Society is there not only to promote the interests of its members but also those of the clients of solicitors in the Yorkshire Law Society area. For a year, Michael will combine his duties leading the solicitors of Yorkshire with running his firm's Wetherby office.
