Staff from Ware & Kay will be aiming to tackle the three highest mountain peaks in Yorkshire in less than 12 hours in aid of the Charlie Mortimer Fund. A team of 30 from Ware & Kay Solicitors, which is based in York, Wetherby & Malton, will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 24th September.  The team is made up of staff, family members and friends aged between 13 and 70.  The route is 24.5 miles long and will see them climb the mountains of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough - a total ascent of around 1,450 metres! Ware & Kay Solicitors has been given expert advice on understanding dementia, and how to help people living with dementia. Staff attended an Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Friends information session at Ware & Kay offices in Wetherby, run by Karen Leaf from Wetherby in Support of the Elderly.  Dementia Friends is a charity which is working to change our perception of dementia and how we think, talk and act about the condition.  The charity is about learning more about dementia and the small ways we can all help - from telling friends about the programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia. York, 22nd July, 2017 Peter Kay, David Hyams, Andrew Little, David Kershaw, Laura Schofield and Owen Thomas successfully completed a 'Super Sprint' Triathlon at Castle Howard on Saturday 22nd July as in aid of Huntington's Disease Association as part of a fund raising initiative organised by Pamela Precious, current President of the Yorkshire Law Society. Peter Kay, Owen Thomas & Laura Schofield formed one relay team and David Hyams, & David Kershaw & Andrew Little formed the second relay team.  Each team respectively completing a 400m open water swim in the Great Lake at Castle Howard, a 23km cycle race over the Howardian Hills and a 4km run and finished 3rd and 4th respectively out of 7 teams.  Other relay teams co-ordinated by the Yorkshire Law Society included Harrowells, Andrew Jackson, Dere Street Chambers…

Growing law firm Ware & Kay Solicitors is adding to its team with the appointment of Laura Schofield at its Wetherby office, to assist the elderly and infirm in the management of their estates. Laura, an experienced solicitor, will specifically focus on Wills and the administration of estates including overseeing the financial affairs of the infirm and elderly clients, while advising on the inheritance tax implications based on individual circumstances. Laura will help clients to protect against the difficulties that arise in dealing with finances or personal decisions if mental capacity is lost, by preparing a lasting power of attorney. She is also highly experienced with Court of Protection proceedings and deputyship applications. Friday, 17 March 2017 Holly Stevens, Owen Thomas, Nick Wardle and Andrew Little did a magnificent job supporting York Against Cancer in the Go-Karting Challenge. The whole event raised approximately £5,000.  York Against Cancer are celebrating their 30th year and all funds raised are being directed to two big projects. The money raised from the evening will go towards a mobile chemotherapy unit which will go out to all the smaller towns such as Malton, Selby and as a far as Scarborough.

Michael Peach from Ware & Kay Solicitors Ltd and President of the Yorkshire Law Society is undertaking a "double-marathon" cycle ride of more than 52 miles on Sunday 17th August in order to raise money for Martin House. As President, Michael is combining his duties leading the solicitors of Yorkshire with running the Ware & Kay Wetherby office. One of his duties as President is to nominate the Society's Charity of the Year and Michael has chosen Martin House Children's Hospice near Wetherby as his chosen charity. Ware & Kay Solicitors immersed themselves in muddy bogs, thick woods and river crossings in the Major Series on Sunday 16th October to raise money for York-based charity 'The Island'. The 14-strong platoon of troops named 'The Ware & Kay Warriors' led by "Field Marshall" Holly Stevens Residential Property Solicitor and "Lieutenant Colonel" Sian Foster Wills & Probate Solicitor strapped their boots on tight before embarking on a mud run like no other.  The team, who were at the peak of fitness, had all received personal training before negotiating the epic military-style 5k grueling mission.
