Ware & Kay Solicitors immersed themselves in muddy bogs, thick woods and river crossings in the Major Series on Sunday 16th October to raise money for York-based charity 'The Island'.

The 14-strong platoon of troops named 'The Ware & Kay Warriors' led by "Field Marshall" Holly Stevens Residential Property Solicitor and "Lieutenant Colonel" Sian Foster Wills & Probate Solicitor strapped their boots on tight before embarking on a mud run like no other.  The team, who were at the peak of fitness, had all received personal training before negotiating the epic military-style 5k grueling mission.

The Ware & Kay troops managed to raise £684 for The Island.  The charity provides a mentoring service to vulnerable young and disabled people in York.  The young people are linked with fully-trained volunteer mentors, who, by means of weekly activity sessions, offer them consistent one to one support over a 12 month period.

Nigel Poulton, Mentoring Co-ordinator at The Island said "On behalf of The Island I just want to thank all those at Ware & Kay who supported and competed in The Major Series.  It has been such an encouragement  The Island seeks to raise funds locally through various events and once again we are so thankful to Ware & Kay and all those involved for raising funds to continue this vital service to children and young people in York."

David Hyams, Director at Ware & Kay, said: "We are delighted to be supporting the work of The Island and we had a great time taking part. We knew The Major Series event was going to be very challenging.  All the staff who took part threw their weight into the event.  It just highlights how keen the team is to do something that bit different to raise money.  Every penny raised will be spent directly on the services that The Island provides and we hope to make a difference in improving the lives of the vulnerable and disabled young people that they support.
