Ware & Kay Solicitors Support Movember

Two members of staff from the York office of one of Yorkshire's leading law firm's Ware & Kay Solicitors Ltd have been looking a little hairer this month, as they take part in Movember.  Spectacular moustches have been grown and so far they have raised over £200 for charity.

Movember is an annual charity with a simple idea: to grow a moustache in November and raise money and awareness of men's health, specificially prostate and testicular cancers.

David Hyams, Director and Charles Stent, Solicitor (both in the Commercial Team) decided to put themselves forward for the challenge. In addition, after growing moustaches during the whole of the month they also took part in a MoRun with other MoRunners in Leeds.

David Hyams said: "I am delighted to support this great cause and get involved.  It is fantastic to have raised so much money, but even more important is raising awareness of men's health.  Our staff are always encouraged to participate in business events and this month our participation in Movember has been a great talking point. People do not find it easy to talk about men's health and Movember is a great way of breaking down that taboo. We were very excited to go Morunning and meet the other Morunners in this unique event."

The Movember Foundation is the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men's health.  They achieve this by challenging men to grow moustaches during Movember (the month formerly known as November) to spark conversation and raise funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems. The team at Ware & Kay think this is a very worthy cause because too many men are dying unnecessarily from prostate cancer.  Each year, 40,000 men in the UK alone are diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Movember Foundation is working tirelessly every day with an urgent goal in mind: accelerating breakthroughs in prostate cancer research that will benefit patients and their families. Movember is achieving this by the formation of the largest global alliance of prostate cancer researchers and clinical specialists, who are tackling the toughest prostate cancer challenges.

Funds raised by Movember in the UK are directed to programmes run directly by Movember and its partners Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research.  The funds raised are used to support programmes to raise awareness, increase survivorship from ancer and fund research.
