Pearsons & Ward, the Malton office of Ware & Kay Solicitors Ltd have donated £500 to local charity Acorn Community Care centre at Whinflower Hall Farm, based in Norton. The charity provides a range of services which are a vital lifeline for young adults with learning and/or physical disabilities in the Ryedale and North Yorkshire areas.
Pearsons & Ward have supported Acorn Community Care centre by organising a corporate fun day out for itself and the other Ware & Kay offices in York and Wetherby at a Hog Roast on Saturday 16th July to help raise the profile of the charity. Staff and family members got involved in a whole range of activites from holding barn owls, stroking alpacas and piglets to welly wanging, tug of war games, tractor rides, air rifle shooting and much more.
Chris Holliday, the Manager of Acorn Community Care said "I would like to thank Pearsons & Ward for booking this corporate event with us. By doing so, this helps promote our charity and the services we offer people with disabilities in the Ryedale and North Yorkshire areas. The eight acre site at Whinflower Hall provides individuals with valuable sheltered work skills in animal husbandry (we have alpacas, sheep, hens and pigs), horticulture, joinery work, and mechanics. Some members of their staff are already familiar with our fundraising efforts and we are developing an exciting new workshop area in a converted barn, where individuals will enjoy new projects such as crafts, hospitality, and producing items to sell in our Farm Shop. Having the support of the local community is invaluable to us. The donation of £500 will be used to purchase equipment for a new kitchen in the barn conversion".
Emma Elwess, Director said, 'We are delighted to support this local charity and have done so over many years. By making a donation it is hoped that our corporate day out will raise awareness for the absolute need for this essential service in the area and the great work that the staff and volunteers at Acorn Community Care carry out".
