Ware & Kay Solicitors, based in York & Wetherby are sponsoring Mike and the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity which is the official charity of the Tour de France Grand Départ. Peter Kay, Senior Partner handed over the fundraising cheque of £1,000 from Ware & Kay Solicitors to Mike said "This is a fantastic challenge Mike has taken on and we are extremely proud and delighted to support him in what is definitely a worthy cause".
Mike said"The support of local business is crucial when raising money to help the community. Ware & Kay have shown support for my fundraising for Marie Curie right from the start. The Marie Curie Power Peloton is going to be the toughest challenge that I have ever set myself. The help that Peter and the team at Ware & Kay have given me has been terrific.
A massive thank you also to everyone who has supported me and continues to do so along this journey. It is a real privilege to be able to help fund the work Marie Curie does by raising this fantastic amount of money".
The cheque presentation was also attended by Christine Hamilton Stewart MBE, Vice President of Marie Curie Cancer Care who said
"Marie Curie is thrilled to be the chosen Charity in the UK of Le Grand Depart. This important platform gives us the opportunity to raise money to provide more nurses across Yorkshire to care for patients and their families at home through very difficult days and nights, and in our Bradford Hospice. Our nurses look after patients with many different diseases as well as Cancer, and the Charity continues to support these families following the loss of their loved ones. All the money raised in Yorkshire is spent in Yorkshire and our Marie Curie Power Peloton cyclists are brave and committed individuals whose wonderful participation will make a great difference to the end of life for many Yorkshire people."
